Factions of the Barrens
Woodsworth Mills
Woodsworth Mills is a large settlement, located just northeast of Leeds, built around an old lumber mill. The settlement is home to many Landsmen and has a large population of followers of the Tribes of the Season. They are the self-proclaimed “Capital of The Pines” and use their vast resources to help the other settlements across The Barrens. The settlement is governed by a Quiet Folk named Miller Brook and a group known as The Rootbound Council.
The Rootbound Council
The Rootbound Council is made up of people that primarily follow the Tribes of the Season in Woodsworth Mills, that help enforce the town's laws. The council is led by the local Speaker of the Current Season at any given time and is responsible for working with the Miller on doing what’s best for the Pines. The Council also oversees the annual tradition of Pine Rise at the start of every Summer.
The Cog & Compass Coalition
The Cog & Compass Coalition is a research organization, based in Woodsworth Mills, that operates throughout The Barrens. The group is made up of Joneses and Technosavants responsible for conducting important research and experiments in a number of different fields including Zed, Raiders and the Grave. The Coalition is led by a Digitarian named Dr. Nathaniel Hawkins and operates under Miller Brook.
Followers of Immediate Relocation Efforts (F.I.R.E)
F.I.R.E are a group of survivors with a fleet of airships that have recently shown up in the area. While little is currently known about them, they have used their airships to help with evacuation the night that Leeds burned to the ground.
Outer Leedsfolk
The people of Outer Leeds are mostly farming families who have lived in the Barrens for generations, and who have a strong sense of individuality. They are, for the most part, very grounded and practical, though they do have their wilder outliers. They are most often represented by a Quiet Folk named Weaver Milligan. Recently, they have set their sights on a place known as Batsto Village as a new place to settle, though they may need some help moving in…
O.S.H.E.A.T
OHSHEAT is a group of people who travel across the Pines looking for devastated caravans, settlements, and encampments to make sure the woods are clean for the wildlife.They all come from various backgrounds focusing on trash cleanup and salvaging sites [not to be mistaken for Sanitation. Separate Unions and all]. They also specialize in critter clean up and relocation. For the right price, they will come in and remove unwanted critters and creatures [not zed or Raiders. Separate Unions and all]. Another business they are in is reselling goods and treasures they find upon their cleanup endeavors. They have recently been seen helping out around Woodsworth Mills.
